about

In 1977, NASA launched the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes, whose mission was to explore the distant planets of our solar system and then continue on into interstellar space. Each probe contains a gold record of "the sounds of earth." In the event that the probes ever encounter extra-terrestrial life, these will provide a glimpse of humanity through sound and music.

As Voyager 1 reached the edge of our solar system, it snapped a photo of earth from 6 billion miles away. This photo led astronomer/philosopher Carl Sagan to write "Pale Blue Dot," where he mused on the insignificance of mankind against the immensity of the universe.

Inspired by Voyager's "Sounds of Earth" and Sagan's essay, I set out to create a series of songs that echo the vastness of space. "Voyager" takes the listener on a similar journey through the sonic universe, past Saturn and other celestial bodies, until eventually reaching the great unknown beyond our galaxy.
